BARBARA J. ALEX An artistic streak has run through my family for generations. It was more the norm than an exception to follow this creative vein. I paint in both oils and watercolors. In the past I have also done woodcuts (and have a few permanent scars to prove it), and sculpture. A naked lady’s torso I sculpted adorns a friend’s garden. My subjects are varied and are influenced by the mood or feeling they create within me. I am inspired by shapes, colors, light and shadows, and especially by people’s faces. I never cease to be amazed that they are all so different! I enjoy the creative process of working so intently on a painting that sometimes many hours will pass quickly without realization of exactly how long I’ve been at it. I exhibit my paintings in shows in Connecticut and delight in sharing my view of the world with fellow art lovers.
