About the Artist

Chris was born in the Berkshires and her fondest childhood memories are of summers on her Grandfather’s dairy farm. As a young woman, she raised her kids (both the human and goat varieties) in a rural setting, milked her goats, made cheese, dyed with natural substances from her land and pretty much led the life of a 60's idealist.

For the last 15 years she has lived in a highly congested suburb, searching for ways to stay connected to her roots and to express herself artistically through nature. Her most recent adventure has been experimenting with gourds. Chris grows the gourds, then embellishes them, often using items such as feathers, seed pods and twigs found on her property. Chris is also a rug hooker, frequently using animal themes and mixed fibers in her rugs.
