About the Artist

I grew up in Syracuse N Y, BA Univ. of Kansas 1951,sociology, psychology. Operated ON THE BALCONY, my interior decorating business 1970's in Skaneateles, NY.
Published books of my illustrated short stories and journals. Have shown art across the country after I started to paint at 58. I now live at Duncaster in Bloomfield, Ct.

Different observers have tagged my creative style as visionary, primitive, impressionistic, folk, outsider and spiritual. Perhaps they are all right. As a self- taught artist, I have never sought to fit within any particular style.

My work has been influenced by living amid natural beauty of the Finger Lakes region of NY State, several stays in Mexico and two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the rainforest/jungle of Ecuador at 50. In South America I was struck how the real and imaginary worlds blend indistinguishably; you will see this influence in my paintings.
